J Rex Lemert - CPA

Rex Lemert graduated from New Mexico Military Institute with an Associate in Arts Degree, from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor in Business Administration, and from West Texas State University with a Master of Professional Accounting.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree he reported for active duty in the US Army and spent one year in the US and one year overseas as an officer in Army Intelligence.   After completing his service requirement, he was CFO for an agribusiness corporation that owned a Feedyard and leased farmland in the panhandle of Texas as well as New Mexico.  Approximately 6 years later he became a shareholder and manager of a retail sales company in Amarillo, Texas.  In 1985 he attended West Texas University and after receiving his Masters degree obtained his Certified Public Accountant license and began practicing as a sole practitioner.

In 1990, Rex formed J. Rex Lemert, PC, an accounting firm offering services to the public.   Over the years the firm has offered accounting services such as bookkeeping, payroll, income tax planning and preparation, estate planning, gift planning, retirement planning, entity selection, trusts, and litigation services.   Clients include feedyards, ranchers, farmers, medical practices, oil and gas companies, real estate agents and developers, construction companies, and small businesses.  The firm is familiar with all types of business entities including corporations, partnerships, limited partnerships, and limited liability companies.

Rex is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Cattleman Association, the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Southwestern Royalty Owners Association, and past member of the Tax Committee for the National Cattleman Association and the Texas Cattle Feeders Association.  He has served two terms as President of the Amarillo Museum of Art board of trustees and is a Board Member of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial.  He has also served on the finance committee and been a deacon of his church.  He is also President of a family farm corporation and managing partner of a family limited liability partnership.

Rex is married with two children and is blessed with five grandchildren. He has many hobbies and enjoys the outdoors.
